5 lbs of lean hamburger meat
½ c chili powder
½ c paprika (for color)
1 T black pepper
1 T salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cover meat with water. Stir until meat and water are thoroughly mixed. Add chili powder, paprika, pepper and salt. Stir again. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and cook until done (about 3 to 4 hours). When done taste for flavor. If bitter, add ketchup to taste. Yields approximately 20 to 25 servings.

My daddy made this chili every day when he owned and operated Put's (pronounced like "hut") Grocery in the 1970's. The hot dogs sold at that little store were the best ever.
