1 1/4 c. all -purpose flour
1 1/2 c. old fashioned oats
2 T. flax meal ( optional)
1 tsp baking powder
1 Tb baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
2/3 c. butter, softened
2 eggs
1 1/3 c. buttermilk or plain yogurt
2 medium apples, peeled cored and chopped

Topping:
1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

Grease 9 x 13 pan
combine flour, oats, flax meal baking powder, soda, salt and cinnamon in medium bowl. Set Aside.
Combine sugar, brown sugar, & butter in a large bowl. Beat with a mixer until blended. blend in eggs and buttermilk. Decrease speed to low gradually add flour mixture bleating until blended. Add apples Pour into pan.
Prepare topping:
combine walnuts, brown sugar and cinnamon and mix well. Sprinkle evenly over batter.

Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

Preheat oven 350 degrees.
Uncover pan and let stand for 30 minutes. Bake 45 minutes or until a wooden toothpick comes out clean. Serve warm
