1 ½ cup molasses
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. salt
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp. allspice
2/3 cup cold water
1 tsp. cloves
1/3 cup shortening
1 tsp. cinnamon
7 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Mix molasses, brown sugar, water and shortening. Stir in other ingredients. Batter will be sticky. Refrigerate at least 2 hours. Heat oven to 350o Roll dough to ¼ inch on floured board. Cut into shapes with floured cutters. Bake on lightly greased cookie sheets for 10-12 minutes. (Indentation remains when touched). Cool and ice
