Ingredients: 4 oz unsweetened chocolate 6 T unsalted butter or margarine 2 large eggs 1 c sugar 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp pure ancho chile powder 1/4 tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 c chocolate chips

Directions:Preheat the oven to 350º Lightly grease an 8 inch square baking pan. Put the chocolate and butter in the top of a double boiler set over barely simmering water. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until the ingredients have melted. Stir the ingredients together and remove the top part of the double boiler from the heat. Combine the eggs and sugar in a large bowl and beat them with an electric mixer set at medium speed for 2-3 minutes or until the mixture has thickened. Add the flour, cinnamon, chili powder, salt, vanilla extract, and chocolate chips.. Stir until blended. Add the chocolate and butter mixture stirring to blend the ingredients thoroughly. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 28-30 min or until a cake tester inserted into the center comes out with a few crumbs clinging. Cool the brownies in the pan. Cut into 16 pieces. |

Notes: Look carefully at the label on the jar of chili powder to be sure you are using 'pure chili powder'. Most generic chili powders are blends of ground dried chiles plus cumin, oregano, salt and other ingredients. Pure chile powder contains no other flavorings Enjoy
