1/2 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups unbleached, all-purpose flour (not packed)
4 tspns. baking powder
pinch salt
tspn. vanilla
1 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar together till fluffy and light. Add eggs one at a time and mix well. Add vanilla and mix.
In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt together.
Add flour mixture to egg mixture, alternating with milk. Add milk until mixture is "loose"
Pour into greased cake pan and bake in 350º oven for approx. 30-35 minutes (check cake for doneness by inserting toothpick in centre. If toothpick comes out clean, cake is done.)

Grandma used to ice this cake with chocolate butter icing. It was the best cake ever. She never gave me a baking time, so I'm guessing here, but this should be about right I think.
