Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/3 cup Splenda
2 -1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp mace
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 cup butter (I use healthy margarine)
1 slightly beaten egg
1/3 cup currants or raisins
1/3 cup chopped fruit peel (orange, lemon) (not the white part though)
1/4 cup walnuts
2-4 Tablespoons milk, or buttermilk (best)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all the dry ingredients except fruits and nuts in a big bowl. Add butter and use pastry blender to mix it up until it looks like bread crumbs. Add fruits, nuts, and egg, then add enough milk to make this into a dough which can be rolled out.
Roll 1/4 inch thick, then use a round cookie cutter to cut
into 2-1/2 inch round biscuits.
Cook in skillet or 350 degree griddle for 4 to 5 minutes per side until they are brown but still soft in the center.
Sprinkle lightly with Splenda.
Serve hot for breakfast, with butter and jam.

They can also be baked in a 350F 0ven for about 7 minutes, turning at 4 minutes.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
We make these a lot. They're really easy and pretty healthy. The originals use white flour, no nuts, and real butter. I also buy candied orange peel. I have substituted dates and they are good also. I have also tried almonds in the dough instead of walnuts, and thats good too.
