1 - 1/2 cups pecans or walnuts
1/2 cup butter or margarine ( 1 stick)
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 can condensed milk
1- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

LIne 8 inch pan with foil, letting foil extend above the sides, lightly grease foil. Spread nuts on microwavable plate, cook on high 2-3 minutes stirring once. Set aside. Melt margarine in 2 qt (large) microwavable bowl. Stir in sugar and condensed milk until blended. Microwave uncovered on high 7-9 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes until it reaches a medium caramel color. (it will bubble up and thicken a little each time) i cook it around 9-9 1/2 min.Remove from heat, add vanilla and mix with electric mixer 2 min. or until smooth and glossy. Add nuts, stir with spoon and spread in pan. Refrigerate till firm (about1 Hour) lift up candy by ends of foil; remove from pan, peel off foil, cut into squares.
