1/2 cup flour
1/2 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
1 cup milk
3 tbsp. heavy cream

Directions:
Slice potatoes. Place one layer of potatoes in the bottom of a casserole dish and add slices of butter. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Sprinkle flour over potatoes. Sprinkle cheese over flour. Repeat for a total of two or three layers. Pour milk over top with the cream, but do not saturate. Bake at 350º for about 45 minutes. Test with a fork for nice, soft potatoes.

For a great "one-dish meal", add layers of sliced ham for each layer of sliced potatoes.

Personal Notes:
As a little girl, my granddaughter Shannon thought the name was "hog rotten" potatoes!
