1 (14 oz.) package caramels
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 pkg. German Chocolate cake mix
¾ cup butter melted
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1 cup nuts chopped (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Melt caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Keep warn and set aside. Combine cake mix with butter and rest of evaporated milk and nuts. Stir by hand until mixture sticks together. Pat ½ of this in greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 5-8 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips over this, then pour caramel over top and drop spoonful’s of remaining batter over this (if remaining batter is too thick to spread easily, thin with a little milk.) Bake for 15 – 18 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool about 10 minutes, then put in refrigerator for 30 minutes to set caramel. Take out and cut into squares.
