2 cups flour
4 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. sugar
½ tsp. cream of tartar
½ tsp. salt
½ cup shortening
1/3 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, and salt. Cut in shortening till mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center; add milk all at once. Stir just till dough clings together. Knead gently on lightly floured surface until flour is mixed in. Poll or pat to ½ inch thickness. Cute with 2 ½ -inch biscuit cutter. Transfer to ungreased baking sheet.
