1 lb. ground chuck or ground pork
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic minced or 1/8 tsp garlic powder
1 -16 oz can tomatoes, undrained, cut up
1- 15 oz can Kidney beans, drained
1/2 cup beer or water
1/2 of a 6 oz can (1/3 cup)tomato paste
1-3 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp dried basil, crushed
chopped onion (optional)
shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Crumble ground chuck or Pork into a large sauce pan. Stir in onion and garlic. Cook over medium heat until meat is brown; stirring occasionally. Drain off fat.
Stir in undrained tomatoes, drained kidney beans, beer or water, tomato paste, chili powder, salt and basil. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
Ladle into soup bowls. Top with chopped onions and shredded cheddar cheese, If desired. makes 4-6 servings
