2 cups chopped dates
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 cup ground nuts
teaspoon salt
Combine dates, sugar and water. Cook until thick. Add nuts and let cool.

1 cup margarine
2 cups brown sugar
3 eggs well beaten
4 cups flour
teaspoon baking soda

Using beaters, cream margarine, add brown sugar and beaten eggs. Add baking soda and flour. Mix well.

Chill thoroughly.

Divide dough into two parts and roll into rectangle about thick.

Spread each rectangle with of the date mixture and roll jelly roll style. Wrap in wax paper and chill over night.

Slice down about inch thick.

Bake at 400 degrees about 9 minutes.
