Ingredients:  
3-4 pounds of beef (rump,chuck or shoulder)
2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 onion peeled, sliced

Directions:
Directions:
Heat Dutch Oven or heavy fry pan, add meat; brown thoroughly on all sides
Sprinkle with salt & pepper
Place onion slices on top
Cover and cook on low heat for 4-4 1/2 hours or until meat is tender
If desired, can add potatoes, carrots during last hour of cooking
Thicken gravy

This recipe came from a cookbook that my Mom had received from Uncle Joe circa 1961 when he was working for Cutco brand knives. The book has seen better days but still intact almost 50 years later.
