1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup persimmon pulp
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 to 1 1/2 cup raisins

Grease a baking sheet. In a small bowl, dissolve the baking soda in the persimmon pulp. In a separate bowl, cream the shortening and sugar. Add the egg and pulp. In a medium bowl, sift the dry ingredients. Add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture. Fold in the nuts and raisins. Drop by teaspoonfuls into prepared cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes
