1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup creamy or chunky peanut butter
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/4 cups quick or old fashioned oatmeal
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1 cup nuts or coconut (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, peanut butter, sugars. Blend in egg and vanilla.
Combine flour, oatmeal and baking soda. Blend in to creamed mixture thoroughly. Stir in chocolate chips (nuts and coconut, if used).
Shape into 1" balls. Placed on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for 10-11 minutes or until edges turn brown. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet and then remove to wire cooling rack.
Fancy variation: Omit chocolate chips from dough. Dip baked cookies into melted chocolate halfway. cool on waxed paper. Makes 3 1/2 dozen cookies ** calories each.
