1/3 cup white syrup
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg white, unbeaten

Directions:
Combine all the above; will need to add more powdered sugar. Work with spoon and knead with hands to a smooth dough. Divide in half, add coloring and flavoring. This way you have about 6 dozen of each color. Let mints set overnight to be firm.

I use:
Lemon flavoring and yellow food coloring.
Peppermint flavoring and red food coloring.
Mint flavoring and green food coloring.
Many more can be used.
