1/2 c. butter
2 eggs, separated
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. baking soda (dissolved in 1 tsp. of hot water)
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. cold water or blackberry juice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. blackberries

Directions:

Cream butter. Add sugar and cream well. Beat egg yolks and add to sugar mixture. Mix well. ADd water or berry juice. Add 1/3 cup of dry ingredients and 1/2 cup berries and stir. Then add another 1/3 cup dry ingredients and remainder of berries. Mix well. Ass baking soda and water mixture; then remainder of dry ingredients. Blend. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into batter. put batter into two 8" pans. Bake at 375º for 25 minutes. Once cooled frost with White Fudge Frosting.
