For each cup of dry bread (dry bread, cake or rolls) use the following:
1 c. milk
1 egg
2 drops vanilla
small pinch of cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg
1 T. sugar
Nuts, raisins or chocolate chips.

Soak dry bread mixture in milk. Beat egg with sugar and vanilla. Grease baking dish lavishly with butter. Remove bread mixture with strainer spoon and place in baking dish. Add remaining milk mixture to egg mixture. Pour on top of bread mix. Add nuts, raisins or chocolate chips and fold them in. Add spices to taste on top. Bake in pan of water for 1 hour or until knife comes out clean and dry at 350º.
