4 cups flour
1 flat tsp. baking powder
(put under flour before adding)
1/2 cup sugar
some lemon aroma for taste
some rum aroma for taste
3 eggs
4 table spoons full of milk
11/4 stick margarine
oil for baking
powder sugar or regular sugar to cover

Mix together:
Flour & backing powder on a baking board or table, Indent the middle and add into it the sugar, eggs, milk, aromas. Mix it all together with some of the flour in the middle to make a thick mixture. Then add the margarine in and knead quick into a smooth dough, roll into a thin layer. Slice into approx. 3 inch strips, cut a slit into middle of each strip and fold one end threw it. Bake in boiling or hot oil until golden brown, roll in sugar.
The oil is hot enough if it has bubbles around a wooden spoon when inserted. Be very careful and watch at all times, boils over fast and sudden.

Papa and Mama make these each year on New Years Eve. and we can't wait for them to come out of the boiler to roll in the sugar. We place them gently into Mama's large green bowls and can't wait to have permission to eat one. This is a wonderful memory, Thank you for always taking the time.
