Personal Notes:
I stayed with Fran briefly after taking a one year sabbatical from being a flight attendant. I did a year in the AA district sales office in Cleveland. Those few weeks of living with Fran were like out of a movie. She lived across the hall from Dexter St. Regis (he gave himself that name). Dexter knew no shame and often invaded Fran's apt. Once he walked in on me wearing nothing but a robe with the name Daisy scripted on the back of his robe. I wasn't wearing a whole lot myself but he said it didn't matter, he wasn't interested in women. Fran would come flying-in from a trip - change into street clothes and have all sorts of plans for her time off.
She knew all the best places to shop, was always
creating food for a party, redecorating the apartment, or meeting friends at a new club or restaurant. Her energy was non-ending, her spirits always high, and she laughed her way through a day. I don't think I ever saw her down. She had the most devilish facial expressions. She constantly introduced me to new people and her door was always open to anyone needing a meal, a friend or a place to sleep. On my counter top in my bathroom is a heart shaped china container that says "LOVE". Fran gave it to me as a wedding gift. - not a day goes by that I don't look at that heart and smile to myself remembering the one and only Fran Fowler Hazard who remains alive in the hearts and minds of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
