1 cup( 2 sticks ) margarine or butter, softened, ¾ cup sugar, ¾ cup packed brown sugar, 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2¼ cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, ¼ teaspoon salt, 1 pkg( 12 ounces) semi-sweet chcolate chips, 1 cup chopped walnuts.

Heat oven to 375°. Beat margarine, sugars, egg and vanilla in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Mix in flour, baking soda and salt. Stir in chips and walnuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from cookie sheets. cool on wire racks.

I use waxed paper to put cookies on until they cool, then I put them in ziplock bags to keep fresh.
