1 pkg. devil's food or chocolate cake mix (18 1/2 oz)
1 c. finely chopped nuts
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. plus 1/3 cup undiluted evaporated milk, divided
10 oz. light caramel, about 35
1 pkg. (6 oz) semisweet chocolate chips

In mixing bowl, combine cake mix and nuts. Cut in butter. Stir in 1/2 cup evaporated milk. Spread half of the batter in greased 13 x 9 baking pan. Bake at 350º for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, in small sauce pan, combine caramel and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally until caramel are melted. Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked layer. Drizzle Caramel syrup over chocolate pieces, carefully spreading to cover chocolate layer. Drop remaining half of batter in heaping teaspoons over the Caramel mixture. Return to 350º oven. Bake for 20 to 25 additional minutes. NOTE: Top layer will be soft. Cool completely before cutting.
