3 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. butter, softened
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 Tbs. light corn syrup
food coloring

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Combine all ingredients except corn syrup and food coloring in large mixer bowl. Mix at lowest speed of mixer until a dough forms, 1 to 2 minutes. Chill 1 hour, if necessary. Shape dough into a 12-inch roll; wrap. Chill 1 to 2 hours. Cut into 1/4-inch slices. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Combine corn syrup with several drops food coloring in custard cup. Brush over cookies; sprinkle with sugar, if desired. Bake at 350º for 12 to 15 minutes.
