1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups sifted flour
1 cup thick applesauce
1/2 cup chopped dates
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Sift dry ingredients together. Add alternating with applesauce to creamed mixture. Add dates & nuts. Drop from spoon on greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake at 400º for 15 to 20 minutes.
