1 - 181/2 oz box German Chocolate Cake
1 - 14 oz pkg caramels
3/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 cup pecans, chopped
1/2 to 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven 350 degrees. Grease and flour 13 x 9" baking pan. Prepare cake batter as directed on package. Pour half of batter into prepared pan. Bake 15 minutes. Melt caramels, butter and milk together in small saucepan. Pour over partially bakes cake. Sprinkle nuts and chocolate chips over caramel layer. Top with remaining cake batter and bake 20-25 minutes. Cook before cutting.
Irresistible with a scoop of French vanilla ice cream.
Mom always had ice cream in the freezer. We ate it as dessert, as a topping for cake or pie or just as a quick snack anytime.
