Place in bottom of 8x8 pan:
3 to 4 cups of fresh fruit, sprinkle with sugar if needed (rhubarb)

Combine and spread over fruit:
4 tbsp. melted butter
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix and sift over batter:
1/2 cup sugar
1+ tbsp. cornstarch

Pour 2/3 cup hot water over all. Bake at 325º for 50 minutes. Serve warm with milk or ice cream.
