3/4 cup butter
1 2/3 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2/3 cup cocoa
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 1/3 cup water
2 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350º. Grease and flour two 9 inch round cake pans. In large bowl, cream together butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla on high speed until fluffy. In separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda, salt, and baking powder; add alternately with water to butter mixture. Blend until combined. Pour into greased and floured pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes, then remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely, then frost with chocolate frosting.
