3 c. sifted all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening (lard)
8 tbsp. cold water

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour once and measure. Add salt and sift into a mixing bowl. Add half the shortening and cut into flour until the mixture resembles fine meal. Add remaining shortening and cut in until particles are the size of small navy beans. Add water, a tablespoon at a time, sprinkling it over the entire surface of the dry ingredients and stirring with a fork until dough forms.
