Base:
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. sifted cake flour

Blend as for pastry. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes.

Mixture:
2 eggs
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. coconut
1 c. black walnuts (fine)

Beat eggs and add brown sugar gradually, beating after each addition. Add vanilla. Sift the salt, flour, and baking powder together and add. Add coconut and nuts. Spread mixture over base and bake in slow oven (325 degrees) for 20 minutes until firm and light brown. Cool and cut into bars.
