Cake:
2 cups raw apples
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup flour
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup nuts

Topping:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1 cup water
1 stick margarine
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:

Spread 2 cups raw apples, chopped fine, in 8x8 inch pan. Cover with 1 cup of sugar. Let stand 1 hour. Mix together and add 1 egg, 1 cup flour, 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, 1 tsp. baking soda, and 1/2 cup nuts, if desired. Bake at 375˚ for 40 minutes.

Topping: Combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 Tbsp. flour, and 1 cup water. Boil until clear, stirring constantly. Add 1 stick margarine and 1 tsp. vanilla. Use as icing by pouring over cake in pan.
