1/2 cup of Butter or Margarine
1 1/2 cups of Sugar
2 Cups of Sifted Flour
4 Tsp of Baking Powder
1/2 Tsp of Salt
1 Cup of Milk
1 Cup of Finely Ground Black Walnuts
1 Tsp of vanilla Extract
4 Egg Whites
1/4 Tsp of Cream of Tarter

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, add sugar gradually with spoon unitl light and fluffy. Sift flour with baking powder and salt, add to butter and sugar mixture alternating with milk, mixing well after each addition. Add ground nuts and flavoring.
Fold in egg whites which have been beaten with cream of tarter until stiff.
Cover the bottom of 9 inch tube pan with wax paper, oil sides, Pour in batter and bake in 325º 15 mins. then increase to 350º and bake about 30 to 40 mins. or until top springs back.
