1 lb. ground beef (can also use ground turkey or ground chicken)
3 c. spaghetti sauce of your choice
1 8oz. can of tomato sauce
3 c. ricotta cheese
1 egg slightly beaten
1/2 tsp. dried basil leaves
1/2 tsp. dried oregano leaves
1 pkg. oven ready lasagna noodles
16 oz. (4 c.) shredded mozzarella
1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper

Heat oven to 375ºF. Cook meat in skillet and drain fat. Put in a bowl and add spaghetti sauce and tomato sauce. Set aside. In another bowl stir together ricotta cheese, egg, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. In a 13x9x2 in. baking dish place 3/4 c. meat and sauce mixture. Cover the bottom and lay 3 pieces lasagna strips over sauce. Leave space from sides and each other as they will tend to expand slightly when cooked. Spread 3/4 c. ricotta cheese mixture over noodles. Then spread 3/4 c. sauce mixture over that. Sprinkle 1 c. mozzarella cheese over meat mixture. Repeat layering 1-2 more times. On the top of last layer sprinkle remaining cheese and parmesan on top. Cover with foil and bake for 30 min. After 30 min. remove the foil and bake 10-15 more minutes. Let stand 5 min. before serving
