1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs well beaten
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped black walnuts*

Directions:

Cream shortening until soft and smooth. Blend in sugar. Add eggs and beat until light and fluffy. Stir in sour cream and vanilla until smooth. Gradually stir in flour mixture, which has been sifted with soda, baking powder, and salt. Add raisins and chopped nuts, and mix thoroughly. Drop from teaspoon onto well oiled baking sheet. Bake at 375º for about 10 minutes.
