3 qts. (or 80 oz.) pure grape juice, divided
10 drops lemon juice
˝ c. sugar, or more to taste
˝ c. cornstarch
Whipped cream for garnish

Directions:
Directions:
Heat the grape juice, reserving 1/2 cup. Add the lemon juice and sugar.

Mix the cornstarch with ˝ c. or slightly more cold grape juice until thin enough to pour gradually into the hot juice—stirring constantly. Bring mixture to a full boil, and remove from the burner.

Cool and serve with whipped cream.

This is a traditional dessert made of thickened fruit juice. You can use any kind of juice (e.g. berry), but we have always used grape juice. The recipe here is for a lot of people, but you can cut it down. Every year, Grandma Fern and Grandma Vera used to have big discussions about exactly how to make the krem. (They never seemed to make it the same way twice.) The 1982 recipe is given here.
