1c white sugar
3 tbsp butter room temperature
1 egg beaten
1/2 c cocoa, fill with boiling water to make 1c of liquid
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c boiling water
1 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
Directions:
Directions:
Cream together sugar and butter: add egg and cocoa liquid. Mix soda and boiling water. Add this, flour and baking powder. Mix well. Pour into greased 9" square pan (the batter will be thin). Bake at 350 for 30 min., or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. ( this cake doubles well. Bake in a 9x13 pan or a bundt pan for 40-50 min.
