2 1/2 c sugar.
1/4 c white corn syrup.
1/2 c water.
2 egg whites, beaten stiff.
1 tsp vanilla.
1 c chopped nuts ( optional ).

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, syrup, and water together. Cook over moderate heat until mixture spins a thread when dropped from a spoon. Pour hot syrup mixture slowly into beaten egg whites, beating constantly. Beat until mixture begins to hold its shape . Add vanilla. Nuts may be added at this time, if desired. Mix thoroughly. Spoon lightly into soft mounds on wax paper. Let set until cool.
