1/2 c warm water.
1/2 tsp sugar.
1 pkg. dry yeast.
Put yeast and sugar into water and set aside. In mixing bowl, put:
3 1/2 c hot water.
1/4 c shortening or margarine.
1/4 c sugar.
1 tsp salt.
2 tbsp white vinegar.

Cool liquids in mixing bowl to lukewarm. Add yeast mixture. Stir in 8-9 cups flour, or until dough begins to lose shine and is slightly sticky. Knead a few minutes on floured board, or floured, waxed paper. Place dough in oiled bowl. Oil top of dough, and cover. Let rise once, until double in bulk, then melt shortening in baking pans and make dough into buns about the size of an egg. Let rise until double in size. Bake at 425º for 1/2 hour or until golden brown.
