"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

Since we reinvaded Iraq, I can’t get the authentic military meal. It is now a dressed-down made-for-outdoorsmen preparation. However, I grab four, stuff them into the top of my backpack with a quart military canteen of water, and go. The current MRE does not have toilet paper, and it does not have fortified peanut butter. It does have matches and instant coffee, however, and ridiculously, the coffee is decaffeinated.
