As you might think, money was very tight, but Cindy, Jeff & I wanted to go camping. We would find a campground with room to park our old station wagon close. We would try to get a spot where 2 trees grew about 10 ft apart. By rapping the clotheslines from 1 tree to another, we were able to clothespin the sheets or tablecloths to the clothesline, & create a makeshift tent. We used the old shower curtain to create a floor, putting the newspapers under the shower curtain on the ground. Then we would use the rocks to hold our "tent" in shape. Cooking was OK with the campground fire pit, hot dogs on straightened clothes hangers or cereal in the morning with bread toasted in the fire on those same hangers. In case of an unexpected rainstorm, we always had the station wagon to crawl into. Washing our few dishes in the stream completed our "camping adventure".
