There are lots of ways to make bird feeders but my favorite is to have the kids look for a pine cone (if you don't have them in your area a plastic cup will work), smear peanut butter on the sides of it. Then the kids can roll the pine cone with peanut butter in bird seed. Let harden just a bit then use yarn to hang it from the tree.
