2 C milk or half & half
4 Tbsp sugar
dash salt
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
Nutmeg, if desired

Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º Place 4 custard cups in shallow pan, heat water to boil in kettle.
In saucepan, heat milk to scalding point, stir in sugar and salt. Beat eggs in bowl, slowly whisk in hot milk, add vanilla. Pour through strainer into custard cups. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Pour boiling water into pan to about half full around custard cups, transfer to oven. Bake 20 min or until custards are set. Do not overbake.
