1 lb. ground beef
1 to 1.5 tsp. salt
A little pepper
Red onion, diced
3 small cans of tomato paste
9 cans water
2 Tbs. sugar
1 tsp. minced garlic
3 or 4 bay leaves
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. oregano

Cook first four ingredients in a large skillet till beef is done but not real brown.

Add rest of ingredients and cook hard for approximately 45 min. Then cook slowly for 12 hours. Add red wine and extra sugar to taste.

This is my family's classic spaghetti sauce. At every family gathering that I can ever remember (birthdays, homecomings, reunions), we have grandma's spaghetti sauce and cherry pie.
