3/4 lb ground beef
3/4 cup dried bread crumbs
3/4 tsp. cornstarch
3/4 cup light cream
1 egg, beaten
1 small onion, grated (or use dehydrated onion)
1 dash allspice
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 cup salad oil
3 T. flour
2 cups water
1/2 cup burgundy wine
2 beef bouillon cubes
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
Kitchen Bouquet bottled sauce for gravy

Directions:
Directions:
Mix first 8 ingredients together and form into small meatballs.

Brown meatballs in salad oil, remove from pan and save drippings. In the pan drippings add the next 6 ingredients, stir well and bring to a boil.

Add enough bottled sauce to make the gravy a rich brown color. Add meatballs to gravy and simmer covered for 30 minutes. Serve over mashed potatoes.

This recipe came from my mom. She doesn't have a Swedish bone in her body (oh, that's right, I think she's mentioned that to all of you), but she sure knows how to make good Swedish meatballs. When I moved to Turlock I often brought this to a church potluck or served it to dinner guests. Well, literally, it took the town by storm. EVERYONE wanted this recipe. People would stop me on the street to ask for it. Now you can amaze YOUR friends with these interesting meatballs. Smaklig Maltid!
