5 c. flour
3 T. sugar
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
2 c. buttermilk (room temperature)
2 pkg. dry yeast (dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, sugar, salt, and soda. Blend in shortening. Add buttermilk and dissolved yeast. Stir well. Keep covered in refrigerator for at least 1 hour before using. Pinch off golf ball size pieces and roll in palm of hand. Mash flat and place on greased pan and let rise until doubled in size.
Bake at 425º for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
This dough will keep in covered bowl a week or more in refrigerator.
