2 sticks (1 cup) margarine
1 cup powdered sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp almond flavoring
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup crushed peppermint candy mixed with 1/4 cup sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream margarine and sugar. Add egg, almond, vanilla, salt and flour. Divide in half. Tint 1/2 red and 1/2 green. Refrigerate until stiff enough to handle. Pinch off pieces of dough from each half and roll into pencil-thin strips about 4 in. long. Twist strips together and bend to form cane. Bake at 350º for about 10 min. While still warm, brush with beaten egg white and sprinkle with peppermint and sugar mixture.
