1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 1/3 cupss finely chopped walnuts
Red and green candied cherries

Directions:
Directions:
1. Beat butter with sugar until light in large bowl. Beat in egg and vanilla. Stir in four, a third at a time, blending well to make soft dough
2. Measure out 1/3 cup of the dough and mix with walnuts and maple syrup in small bowl, reserve for cookie centers
3. Use small star tip on pastry bag; fill with remaining dough. Press out into 1 1/2 inch rings on ungreased large cookie sheet, fill centers with about a tsp of nut mixture. If desired decorate with slivers of the chewies.
4. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes or until slightly golden at edges. Remove to wire rack and cool completely. Makes 6 dozen
