2 cups sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup sugar
6 T. butter or margarine
1 egg beaten
1/2 cup milk
optional ingredients; fruit, nuts, cinnamon
Directions:
Directions:
Mix and sift flour, baking powder, salt & sugar into mixing bowl, cut in shortening. Combine egg and milk and stir into dry ingredients until blended. Spread dough into buttered 9" pan. Bake in oven at 400º for 25-30 minutes. Top with fruit, or nuts and cinnamon before baking.
