2 1/2 cups of plain flour
1 tsp.baking powder
3/4 tsp.salt
3/4 tsp.soda
3/4 tsp.cloves
1/2 tsp.allspice
1/2 tsp.cinnamon
1/4 tsp.black pepper
1 3/4 cup brown sugar
3 eggs
3/4 cup butter
1 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 tsp.vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour,spices,salt,and baking powder in seperate bowl.
In large bowl,beat eggs, add butter, sugar,vanilla,and milk.Mix well,until blended.
Add flour mixture a little at a time. Mix until
smooth.Pour into two greased 8x8 round cake pans.
or into bunt pan.Bake at 350 preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

This cake is great just by itself or with cream cheese frosting with black walnuts or sprinkled with powder sugar.It goes great with coffee.
