Mother salted her Roast, Floured it on both sides, browned it in hot oil on both sides and cooked it in the oven in a heavy roaster pan with 1 cup water, and baked until tender. She made a salad out of her Lettuce from the garden, washed and dried it, fried Bacon crisp and crumbled it. She would pour the hot bacon grease over the Lettuce, add a little Vinegar, crumbled bacon sliced onion, and radishes from the garden.
