Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Bread:
2 tbsp. dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
2 tbsp. + 1 cup sugar
1 cube butter, melted
2 cups evaporated milk, scalded
1/2 tbsp. salt
4 eggs
6 – 7 cups flour

Filling:
1/2 cup butter
3 cups sugar
2 cans evaporated milk
1-2/3 cups honey
2 eggs
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 lb. yellow raisins
8 cups pecans, chopped
2 tsp. vanilla

Topping:
Powdered sugar
Milk

Directions:
For the bread, in a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water to which 2 tbsp sugar has been added. In a saucepan, melt butter and scalded milk, then add 1 cup sugar and salt. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat. Beat in eggs, one at a time. This will cool the milk mix. When it is warm, and the yeast mix has blossomed, add the milk mix to the water mix. Stir well. Add flour (not all at once, put in about 3 cups, add some, until it is of kneading consistency. Continue to add flour until you have a good bread dough mix. Add flour just until the dough is not sticky. Knead on the counter until you have a smooth dough. Turn the dough into a greased bowl, let rise in the bowl. (I spread warm butter on the dough so it will not dry while rising). Cover with a tea towel and put the bowl in a warm place. It takes about an hour to rise. For the filling, meanwhile, take a large cooking pan, melt butter, add sugar, evaporated milk, and honey. Add eggs, cinnamon, raisins, and pecans. Cook the filling until thick. Remove from heat, add vanilla. Let cool. Turn out the bread dough on a floured surface. Divide it into 4 parts. Roll each until it’s about 1/4” thick. I smear the dough with soft butter. Then add the filling, spreading it over all the dough. Roll like you would a cinnamon bun roll. (I leave it in one huge piece). Put it on a well greased pan (with Crisco, not butter) and shape it in crescent shape. If you brush with melted butter before you put it into the oven, it will give the bread crust a good brown crust. Let it rise one more hour. Bake at 350 degrees or until the bread is done. Cool completely. Drizzle with mix made from powdered sugar and a little milk.
